Fibrolytic
enzymes supplementation to the ration of cows and buffaloes
appears to be a promising technology for improving the fiber
utilization and milk production. However, the effectiveness
of addition of fibrolytic enzymes depends on several factors
such as type of ration, nature and activity of enzymes,
level and mode of enzyme supplementation. Most of the
research work carried out in developed countries had been on
low fiber rations, whereas under tropical ruminant feeding
systems, high fiber rations containing agro industrial
byproducts and crop residues need to be evaluated for the
effectiveness of fibrolytic enzyme supplementation.
