Born on November 15, 1948, Dr. A.K. Bandyopadhyay did his M.Sc. (Dairy Chemistry) & Ph.D. from National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal and worked in that Institute from 1970-1981. He joined Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, West Bengal on deputation from ICAR in 1978 to start a Dairy Technology College. He has guided many M.Sc. & Ph.D. students and published over 80 research papers. He visited USA & Canada for academic purpose. His students are occupying pivotal positions in institutions all over the world. He was a member of "Commission on Agriculture Reforms, Research & Development", Govt. of Jharkhand. 
Dr. Bandyopadhyay has more than 37 years of experience in teaching, research, extension & administration and has gained expertise in the areas of Quality Management, Indian Dairy Products Development and Management of Educational Institutions.
