Dr. K.S. Ramachandra is a Technical Expert
(Animal Husbandry and Fisheries) in the rank
of Additional Secretary to Government of
India at The National Rainfed Area
Authority, Planning Commission, New Delhi.
He is actively involved in providing
technical and policy support to various
Central Ministries and State governments for
integrated and holistic development of
rainfed areas in the country.
After graduating in Science in the year
1972, Dr. Ramachandra did his Indian Dairy
Diploma from the National Dairy Research
Institute, Bangalore and subsequently post
graduation in the discipline of Animal
Husbandry from Allahabad Agricultural
Institute in the year 1976. He obtained his
Doctorate degree in the year 1993 from the
National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal in
the discipline of Animal Nutrition.
Dr. Ramachandra started his professional
career with the Karnataka Dairy Development
Corporation in 1976 and subsequently joined
the Agricultural Research Services of Indian
Council of Agricultural Research in 1978.
During the last 30 years of his service at
different ICAR institutes, his contribution
to the discipline of animal nutrition has
been note worthy. In the area of livestock
feed resources availability and utilization,
he is considered as one of the pioneers in
the country and the base line information
generated in this area has been utilized by
policy makers, planners and researchers for
formulating short term and long term
strategies. Dr. Ramachandra has received
training at The Netherlands in the area of
Feed formulation and Modern feed processing.
He is also the recipient of ICAR
Multidisciplinary Team Research award for
the year 1999- 01. He has been actively
associated for long with the Indian Dairy
Association (IDA) as a life member and
contributed immensely in its activities.
Dr. Ramachandra is a CEC Member of IDA.
