His Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam,
former President of India; Hon’ble Chief
Minister; Hon'ble Minister for Home,
Cooperation, Women & Child Development and
Animal Husbandry; Dr. Bhasin, President-IDA;
Dr. Amrita Patel, Chairman, NDDB; Mr. Arun
Patil, Chairman, IDA (WZ); Ladies & Gentlemen
and all my friends from the dairy industry.
I do not stand here as a Speaker of Goa
Assembly but I stand here as a farmer, a dairy
farmer. It is indeed a pleasure to be here
addressing the XXXVII DIC.
As Dr. Bhasin said, that we are producing
104 million tones of milk, perhaps the highest
in the world, but per unit production is
absolutely very low, it is less, perhaps
one-tenth of what an average American cow
produces. This is where, we take it as a
challenge, the farmers of India are no less
and we can do it. In Goa, as a farmer, I feel
it is essential to provide proper
infrastructure and proper amenities that are
required for dairy industry. If we are able to
do this, we shall not be lacking in competing
with any farmer in the world.
I feel that I should not be too long as we
are waiting for the guidance from no less than
a scientist, well known to the world, Dr.
A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who has also another
engagement, so once again, I welcome you all
here in the beautiful Kala Academy. I also
request all delegates that they should make it
point to visit out the beautiful places and
make it a memorable event.
Thank you very much.
