  1. Tetra Pak Expands Capacity to Meet Growing Market Needs in China

Tetra Pak, the world’s leading food and beverage processing and packaging system supplier has announced the successful completion of its phase three investment project in its converting plant in Beijing. Upon completion, Tetra Pak’s total annual production capacity in China reaches a new high of 40 billion packs, to meet the huge increases in demand for dairy products. Mr. Nils Bjorkman, Executive Vice President, Tetra Pak said, “With continuous expansion of our total capacity and optimisation of our production footprints in China, Tetra Pak is now well positioned to provide better and faster services to our customers in China through strengthened capability in packaging material delivery and a more smooth and flexible supply chain.”

Other than meeting the huge increasing demand for dairy products in China, Mr. Hudson Lee, Managing Director, Tetra Pak, China said that only with a harmonious growth of the value chain could the dairy industry itself grow in a sustainable way. He further added that only with the growth of the customers, could Tetra Pak continue its success in China.

According to Rabobank, demand for dairy products in China has more than doubled in the past five years. Though domestic milk production is growing rapidly to reflect this change, China is only able to produce 24 million tonnes a year.
