- Tetra Pak Introduces Cleaning Analysis Services for Dairy Plants
M/s Tetra Pak has introduced a new cleaning analysis service – ‘OptiSave service’ for dairy plants. The company claims that it can help reduce the operating expenses and the environmental impacts of processing.
The OptiSave service can help to better control water and product loss while cleaning in place (CIP) procedures are being carried out in the plant. The software tool works by measuring and amending each component of the process.
According to the company, the OptiSave tool measures losses related to a manufacturers output. The tool also analyses fresh water consumption, solution losses, and the times and temperatures of the cleaning process.
The findings can then be used to make changes in operations in a bid to minimise or eliminate the financial and environmental impact of waste resulting from cleaning in dairy plants.
Mr. Jörgen Melin, Technical Sales and Service Director of Tetra Pak’s Dairy and Beverage unit, said that just a few changes to a company’s cleaning operations could bring significant improvements to the costs of a production plant.
- Probiotic Yoghurt Treats Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria
According to a study, recently published in the Medical Journal of Australia, commercially available yoghurt improves clearance of vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). In a randomised controlled trial conducted, yoghurt containing the live bacterium Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) cleared VRE. All patients in the renal ward were allocated at random to either yoghurt containing LGG or standard pasteurised yoghurt. The patients in the treatment group cleared VRE within 4 weeks.
